When I presented the possibilities of who might replace Marc Dann; should he eventually relinquish the position one way or another; to a Democrat friend of mine in Columbus, he mentioned a scenario I hadn't thought about.
Apparently, Chris Redfern has some major political ambitions (whoda thunk it) and the position of Lt. Governor might be viewed by him as a stepping stone to the top spot and beyond. If that's the case, "Guvnuh" Ted might appoint Lee Fisher to the AG position and then fill the vacant Lt. Governor spot with Redfern.
A couple of years with Fisher as the AG would probably leave many Ohioans wondering what the heck happened in the past four years. With the Marc Dann "affair" and then a super socialist like Fisher would probably have Buckeye State citizens chomping at the bit to get rid of these guys.
But, as has been the case for a couple of weeks now, the Dems are going to have to get rid of Dann. He's not going to go without a fight. He's even hired a "dirty tricks" PR firm to do the heavy lifting for him. And the Dems have put out feelers indicating they might not have any more of a stomach for impeachment as the Republicans had toward Taft.

I think Fisher wants to stay in the LT GOV office so he can use it as a springboard. He doesnt have to really make any tough decisions in that role, so he cant be criticized - except through Strickland. I will not be surprised at all if he takes on Voinovich in 2010.
