Yet Another Mucked Up Draft For The Bengals!

From the first round, when the Bengals could have traded up for Sedrick Ellis, to their latest pick of Jason Shirley, who has a rap sheet that makes Chris Henry look like a choir boy, the Bengals are stinking up the place with their draft choices.

This has the makings of an all-time worst draft and yes, I am aware of some of the poor ones they've made as outlined in today's Enquirer.

Gary you are off on this one! When it comes to finances, your pretty good!
When it comes to politics, your o.k!
When it comes to sports, you will have to yield to me on this one.

Although Cincy should have moved up to get Ellis, there pick of Rivers is very solid. The other picks were o.k and will fall into place after about June 4th or so. Granted, the Shirley signing was something they should have stayed away from, but it is a low risk. He won't cost very much, and can be let go at anytime without hurting us at all.

Bottom line, we won't know for about 3 years how good/bad this one was, but at least they addressed a few NEEDS this year.

Grade of B-

My take is that they could have used one of their 3rd round picks to trade up for Ellis. Yeah, Rivers is good, there's no doubt about that. But, if you're team is so bad up front that they can't stop the run, trading up for Ellis would have been worth it. The WR they got in the 2nd round probably would have been around in the 4th round where they took Shirley. In addition, there were better WRs, like Sweed, that were available later.

I hope you're right. And, like you said, it will take 3 to 4 years to find out. After all, TJ wasn't good right out of the shoot. It took him awhile to develop into a good receiver.

As always, I'll continue to be a fan and watch them.

I wonder if the Bengals will ever take that next step.
